Time stands still

It is at this point in the journey that my inner child wants to ask, “Are we there yet?”

57 days down, 43 to go.

On an unrelated note, I’m still planning to backpack Isle Royale July 13-17, so if you’re interested in joining the group, let me know (to the group: I’ll email something soon)

What a cool place to work

I seriously doubt that the people in my office (me included) are coordinated enough to pull off something like this:

Wow.

Good ol’ Mac

I got my first “modern” computer back in 1994, a Macintosh Plus. Sure, it was seven years old by the time my greasy paws got hold of it, but the improvement from my Apple II+ meant the world to me.

That computer served me well, and I was as fond of it as one can be of a machine. Perhaps that nostalgia is why I found this comparison of a Mac Plus and a new dual-core Athlon so irresistible. It’s impressive to see how well the Mac hangs with the PC despite a 1000-fold speed disadvantage.

Bravery

There was a woman at my division’s quarterly meeting today who showed great bravery. Not an employee — a patient.

The 32-year-old suffered from fecal incontinence since childhood. Ten years ago, she was successfully treated with my company’s products. More impressive than the therapy was the woman’s courage. On stage, without a hint of fear, she described her condition and how our work had helped her.

I couldn’t imagine having her disease and being so willing to speak about it; I would be far too embarrassed.

Links of mystery

It’s been said that everyone using the internet has one of two goals: to waste time or to save time. Here’s yet another place to do the former: the Unknown News Mystery Links.  I have found many of the links to fit well with my interests.  Oh, and this has nothing to do with their second May 30th link.
