Bravery
June 7th, 2007
There was a woman at my division’s quarterly meeting today who showed great bravery. Not an employee — a patient.
The 32-year-old suffered from fecal incontinence since childhood. Ten years ago, she was successfully treated with my company’s products. More impressive than the therapy was the woman’s courage. On stage, without a hint of fear, she described her condition and how our work had helped her.
I couldn’t imagine having her disease and being so willing to speak about it; I would be far too embarrassed.
