Blogroll-o-rama

September 20th, 2004

I got fed up with not knowing who last updated their blog, so I wrote my own magic blogroll script. My blogroll is now sorted by most recent update, with the site on the left being the most current. The update schedule hasn’t been finalized yet, but it’ll probably happen several times a day.

Unfortunately, some of the blogs in the list are proving difficult to decode, generally because they haven’t been updated in a while. Start posting again, and I’ll see what I can do 🙂

I am going to be unscrewing my site this week…

If it is any consolation, a few of us have RSS feeds… that will make it easier to update your blogroll. Moreover, I have suggestions for others to add to your roll, if you’re interested.

The only ones that I’m still having problems with are Tim (there needs to be a better timestamp), Grandstaff (it should be okay when the site returns), Mutak (I deblogrolled my roommate!), Webb (LiveJournal isn’t sending complete data to my script), and KSmith. It looks like KSmith has an RSS feed, but I don’t know the URL — ‘lil help?

Quick update: All of the sites in my blogroll are now polled for updates. In the event that two or more sites have updates on the same day, the secondary sort order is based on the site from which a visitor to my page most recently arrived.

New feature: sites that have updated since your last visit are now highlighted with bold type. (Note that no sites will be highlighted on your first visit with the new system)
