My car is clean again, at least until I drive it out of the parking lot…

Unfortunately, it seems that the act of washing my car in the cold weather has caused my fuel door to freeze shut. The solution, to be attempted during lunch today, will be one of:

    a) Remove the fuel door lock actuator through the trunk
    b) Spray large quantities of hot water on the fuel door in an effort to melt the ice impediment

    To be continued….

An engineering comment … spraying hot water usually results in further aggravation of the freeze-up (look up evaporative cooling) the best course of action is to get the thingy in to a heated garage, even if you have to go shopping 😉

It turns out that option “c” was the successful choice. What was “c,” you ask? It was the act of repeatedly cycling the door between the locked and unlocked states while attempting to aurally locate the appropriate solenoid. After several repetitions, I noticed that the door had become unlocked. Huzzah!
